The flow... AGAIN...

This problem starts to haunt me. Instead of a fluid motion to the right or left, it doesn't look like that at all. The downside is that no matter how hard I try and how many times the teacher shows me, I just can't put my finger on it what I have to do to get it right.

When I mess up my Reel a number of times after that, I'm glad I didn't got myself filed for the Feis from a few weeks ago. Things would have probably turned out very bad. Because the Single Jig also doesn't really works out, we stick to stretching a lot.

Turn-out

Turnout is one of the many things I have to pay attention to. I seem to do that beautifully when I'm performing 'over's' but when I take steps where my legs are straight, my feet point straight ahead, which isn't supposed to happen ofcourse.

I get all kinds of practices as homework to aid in my turnout. They are so complex I'm not going to try and describe them here: that would make up a page for them alone. Bottomline is that you should turn out from your hip and not with/from your knee. If you do use your knee in turnout, you will slowly (but certainly) wreck it.

To work on that, I have to bring my leg up in the air, bend my knee and than turn my leg outwards to place my foot down. That way, you really use the muscles in your hips which makes you prevent turning your knees out and you get a better idea of what you still have to work on.
